YAWN...

Was a little occupied towards the morning. The patient that we resuscitated during the first night collapsed again. Gave him 20 adrenaline, max atropine and 22 shocks, resuscitated for about an hour and he was pronounced death at about 6plus in the morning.......
Only managed to sleep about 4 hours this morning, still feeling very tired and sleepy... think I am going to bed soon.... YAWN!

NTUC...

Did a lot of extra work last night, the admission dont seems to be an ICU case. Anyway its good to keep me a little occupied otherwise I would have thought that I am "too free" and "time too slow"!
Had a $20 NTUC voucher therefore drove to AMK NTUC after work. (VERY SLEEPY THOU) For one moment I thought that things are selling cheap in the early morning as there were quite a number of crowd outside NTUC. When they opened the gate at 8am, everyone dashed in! I grabbed a trolley (no strength to carry basket!) too and went in eagerly to check it out. People banged onto me and the trolley, I looked around and realised everything is just selling at the normal rate! Perhaps they think that they can get the "MOST FRESH" stuff in the early morning (first come first serve!). Things were very neat and tidy in the beginning, after about 10mins, everything became messy especially the raw food corner. I saw people "poking" at the raw food packageing (WAH LAU!)and things were misplaced (chicken mixed with duck, beef mixed with pork etc etc.....)

VERY KIASU lor!

"Big Mouth!"

Mummy came home this morning after her night duty. She was so sleepy, she got no strength to play with phie phie! Phie phie didnt disturb mummy, let mummy sleep but the naughty phone kept ringing! Phie phie beat beat the phone but it still so naughty kept ringing, HUMPH! Mummy then woke up at 1pm, to cook for her supper for tonight.
Yeah, last night I was busy all because of my "big mouth"! We were not occupied in the beginning then at about 1am I told my colleague (Koh) "Why time passes so slow??? Very sien leh!" Koh gave me "the look"... I then remember that whenever I mentioned something, things will happen, so I kept quiet and looked at the telemetry.

Me: Hey, this patient a lot of NSVT hor...
Koh: Yeah lor...
Me: Eh, how come so frequent uh???
Koh: (Looking at the monitor...)
Me: Eh Dr Ong, did they informed u this patient a lot of NSVT? Now getting frequent...
Dr Ong: (Look...) Yeah hor...
Me: Eh... later uh... EHHHHHHHHHH VT!!!!!!!!

Me, Dr Ong and Dr Lim ran out from the ICU to the station...... Koh called the station to inform...
The drama started....... I pushed the E-cart all over the station, anyway that's not the issue.... we resuscitated patient..... RESUS..... No pulse.... CPR.... VT/ VF .... CARDIOVERTED..... almost 45mins and the patient came back and sent to ICU.
Subsequently the night was peaceful but then my colleagues told me "You and your big mouth lah! Tell u dont say that lah!" ....the story then spread from the night nurse manager to the day nurse manager!

When I saw my nurse manager at 730am...
Me: Morning sister!
Nurse manager: Heard that last night uh, busy because of your "big mouth" uh????
Me: What to do, yeah, should have say "I will strike 4d for sure"!

TVB series...

Safe guards.
This is a very nice drama because Steven Ma is cool! The series is about Bureau (in the ancient times, when rich people wants to deliver something valuable to somewhere, they will ask the Bureau to deliver for them. In this way, the Bureau will earn their income). Many things involved and people died...I spent almost 8 hours today to finish disc 15 to 26! Cried a bit towards the end... didnt expect this series to be so good! I saw some comments on this series, many simply just love it but most of them dont like Elaine Yiu. One says "Elaine Yiu as the female lead. I was shocked when I learned about the casting decisions at first. I believe most of us are still in the "Elaine-hating-mood" by now. TVB is going a little too far by promoting her to a lead... " A lot of negative comments about Elaine Yiu, uhmm I dont quite like her expressions too but I chose to ignore her, and at times when she started crying, I fast forward HAHAAHAHA Anyway the show is not mainly on her!
Starring: Steven Ma, Elaine Yiu, Wayne Lai...
My rating: 8/10

A pillow case of mystery.
This series is talking about how Bobby Au Yeung solved cases with the help of a "dream pillow". It gets more interesting as the story goes on. I like Bobby, Kenix and Tavia that's the reason why I rent this series.
Starring: Bobby Au Yeung, Kenix Kwok, Tavia Yeung, Benny Chan...
My rating: 6.5/10

Life made simple.
Well, those who watch TVB dramas should know who is "ah wang" from part one of this series. This is the modern version, as usual, ah wang is extremely cute, funny and simple minded. He has an extremely kind heart and sometimes over helpful. I cried a little too because of one of the scene from the last episode! One of my friend cried till she got hiccups!!!! HAHAAHA
Starring: Roger Kwok, Jessica Hsuen, Bosco Wong, Leila Tong...
My rating: 7.5/10

When rules turn loose.
Tomorrow I will start this series. About lawyers....
Starring: Liza Wong, Myolie Wu, Sammul Chan, Waynei Lai...

JB...

Yesterday I went JB for my eyes appointment. I asked a few of my colleagues to follow me to JB, at the same time to shop and eat!
The levi's jeans are cheap, we spent almost an hour to try out the lastest design of jeans. Eventually all our us bought a jeans each... no, wati tried many many jeans but she bought a skirt instead! I supposed Wati bought the most stuff, she got things from head to toes! Unfortunately we didnt have much time to shop as we reached there about 445pm... We were very hungry however our priority was to shop. We headed to "Taman Sri Debrau" (I supposed this is not the correct spelling...) at about 815pm.
The moment I reached, I started ordering food. I knew I was greedy, kept insisting that the food we ordered was not enough. There were sambal squid, stingray, lady's finger, cereal crayfish, clams and sambal topshell. Besides that, I went to order the well known prawns' chu chang fen- yummy.... We finished up the food within 45mins then Regine and I wanted some more food so I went to order a duck drumstick, additionally sambal potato leaves, bamboo clams and fried you tiao! Well I know I am a glutton, but we managed to finish all the food! It cost only RM130 which is about $57 including drinks! Shall plan to go again some other day!

My latest makeover...

HAHAHA ... What do u think of it????

The heels...

Probably some had read from elaine's blog that our colleague saw a "HEELS" during her night shift! It was about this colleage went for her break and slept alone in the MO's room. She was lying prone while she heard the door open (2am) and the sound of the heels walking towards her! At the same time (2am), another colleague from outside heard the opening of the door but she didnt went to check it out. The colleague in the room then felt "something" pressing on her, she tried to shout for help but she couldnt. After the "thing" left, she rushed out of the room, they talked about it only after everyone went for break.

Well, such things does happen at times, especially in the hospital. One of the newspaper I read mentioned that because the brain wakes up before the person wakes up physically therefore people experienced "something pressing" on them. Perhaps.... the thing is I just cant understand the part where both of them, one outside and one in the room heard the door open at 2am. The worst part is the poor colleague in the room heard the heels! Initially we were told that she saw the heels!!!!!! I think it is worst than hearing it! After elaine and I heard the story the very day, we both were not able to sleep at night... We kept imagine that what if we see the HEELS!!!! I imagined it was red and elaine thought it was black! hahaha so silly!

WOOOoooooo PHIE PHIE IS BACK!

I is phie phie!!!! The broadband activated and phie phie can type type type blog again!!!!! Mummy can online again! YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!!!!!

So many to blog... Maybe I will start with "a funny phone call".... its from a staff nurse from other ward.

Me: Har, what kind of antibiotics? It shouldnt be a problem, if u are not sure just confirm with the doctor because I dont know your patient...

SN: It is plug at the neck lor...

Elaine: HAR? What "shin"? What are u talking about??? (Can u please speak English???)

SN: Its a "shin", not a plug lah, a "shin" at the neck one

Elaine: HAR???!!!! Are u talking about "sheath"???? What are u trying to say?

SN: YA YA sheath sheath at the neck one!

Elaine: .............. Should be ok but u better confirm with your doctor because I AM NOT SURE whether it is really a sheath or not!!!

Broadband...

After a tiring morning shift, Elaine went Orchard with me to sign up for the broadband. (Oh not forgetting Ali as well, she also went with us). After we alighted from bus 190, we spent almost 20mins to walk to the particular destination because the staff gave me a wrong direction. Anyway to cut the story short, I intended to be nasty and demanding! However I get nothing in the end, the only thing I did was signed up for the broadband for $38 per month! Well, better than the dial-up I guess, at least I dont have to rush to type my blog like now!!!!!! Ok got to go, its going to charge me online 5.25cents per min because the broadband will only activate on 25th! BYE BYE......

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

So ex!

Didnt update my blog these few days because I didnt want to online at home. I received my latest bill and it is $118! I am using dial up all the while and didnt know that I have to pay so much if I exceed the given numbers of hours! It is charged at 5.25cents per min and I thought it is really ridiculous... Dial-up, slow and expensive. Going to arrange to change to broadband tomorrow which cost only $38 for unlimited usage! Cant take it, dial-up too expensive!

Problematic afternoon shift!

Problem number 1) Communication breakdown
I was supposed to pick Elaine for work this afternoon. I spent some time blowing air-con because I felt really hot and humid in the car hence I was slightly late. Who knows this smart Elaine, thought that I was not going to pick her. When I reached the usual place then I received her sms "Dunno u picking me or not, I go already, in the cab now"! Hey pal, when did I ever say pick u and didnt appear!!!!!!!! Anyway she felt sorry and paid for the dinner this afternoon... OK lah next time dont act smart ah!

Problem number 2) Repeating my experience
When I went to work this afternoon, no doubt the topic would be "How was the lasik???"... then I started the story telling over and over again. Actually I dont mind sharing my experience with them! hehe...

Problem number 3) Visitors kept asking for direction
The total in ICU was 3 and we maintained it till the end of our shift. There are renovation going on at one of the station hence the way to the station is blocked. The visitors kept coming in to the ICU to ask for the way to the station. Therefore we decided to print a big note outside our ICU to guide them. Surprisingly it works! This problem was then solved.

Problem number 4) Patient kept having diarrhoea
My patient kept having diarrhoea, I have to keep changing her. The stool was so EEEEeeeee...

Problem number 5) Stained the chair
Besides taking care of our patients this afternoon, we bought some food to cook for dinner. There were vegetables, mushrooms, canned food, chicken etc and we dumped everything into the rice cooker with a soup base to cook. When I went into the room to check on the food, I saw that the soup was boiling out from the rice cooker and the best part was the soup dripped onto a chair! Well, we scrubbed the chair with medic wipes, alcohol swab, handrub, whatever we can think of but its a stubborn oil stained. We applied powder thinking that it might absorb the oil, though after that it seems better but the stained still there. Chuan kah noticed it and scrubbed it with soap and some water and finally the stubborn stained went off! Fortunately another problem solved, thank you chuan kah!

Problem number 6) Mouse in ICU
Jasmine was washing the bowls at the pantry after the dinner and out of a sudden she saw a MOUSE. Yes, a MOUSE in icu! Perhaps its due to the renovation... Whatever it is, we were screaming away and trying out all sorts of ways to catch it... it was hiding under the fridge and running behind the cupboard! Chuan kah trying to take a picture of it at the same time trying to use a towel to catch it. I was running around looking for props so that I can use them to cover it in case it runs out. I came to them with a dustbin cover, followed by a big red box that use to place our CSSD items and they, including myself just cant stop laughing over it! We were well prepared to catch the mouse but it just wouldnt want to appear! We decided to call the "fix it" man but the man replied that the housekeeping should be in charge of it. We then called the housekeeping, the housekeeper kept laughing over it until Jasmine got to swear that she is telling the truth! However we waited for about 10mins and they didnt appear. I called again and told them that its not a joke, they replied that they had already called the pest control man. I insisted that they come immediately to at least take a look at it and they came in 5mins time. Many didnt believe until they saw the mouse. Everyone was trying all sorts of funny ways to catch it. Like use a bread to lure it, bang the cupboard to scare it out... at the moment of time, I pity the mouse. Actually the mouse came out for the bread and ran in again, it must be hungry, poor mouse! When I was ready to go home, they were still waiting patiently for the mouse, the pest control man finally appeared at 9pm. Dont know what time will he be able catch the mouse, and I wonder what will happen to the mouse. Hope he wont kill it...

Yeah, it a problematic day but I enjoyed because there were amusing encounters and the shift was full of fun and laughter! (Anyone interested can refer to Elaine's blog for her version of this problematic afternoon shift!)

Testimonial for Optimax!

Optimax is located in Johor City Square, which takes about 5mins to drive from custom. It has been the leading provider of refractive surgery for the past ten years in Malaysia. They explained every details very clearly. I been through a 3hrs thorough eyes examination on the first day. Within the 3hrs, besides thorough eyes examinations, there was video session on the process of Lasik. Followed by clear explainations given by an optometrist on the process, side effects, complications, etc etc...... All in all, in my point of view, they are very helpful and professional. I strongly recommend those who are interest to consider doing lasik at Optimax. Some might think that it may not be safe to do in Malaysia but I feel everywhere is the same, it all depends on how u cooperate throughout the surgery, how u take care of your eyes post surgery and your luck! A few of my friends did there and everyone is doing well! They are very professional, check out the site to find out more. (By the way I spent only $2200 for customised lasik for both eyes!)

Perfect eyesight!

Never in my life I woke up to see the world as clear as today! Went back for eye examintation this morning and Dr Yip said that I am doing well and that I am near to perfect vision. I thought I can see everything clearly though, in fact my vision test is 6/6, which is perfect! He also mentioned that its safe to drive from today onwards!
Felt the lights glaring at times, anyway he advised me (in fact everyone of his patients) to wear sunglasses whenever I am outdoor. Most importantly I have to be compliant to the 2hly application of eye drops. Well, it shouldnt be a problem, just for a month and everything will be over!
YEAH, I dont have to wake up every morning searching for my glasses anymore!
THANK YOU DR YIP KY!

Tired...

At the end of the morning shift today, I was like a worn out battery, no energy, no strength, practically dragged my feet home. Yeah, lots of actions this morning. Sent patient for procedure, sent patient to pacing room for pacing, intubated patient, sent patient out and took another patient, set CVP for patient, handling nuisance calls and letters and door bells and call bells, handling difficult relatives.... on and on and on.... and its still ongoing after I left. Well, its an ICU therefore its unpredictable. Actually that is what I like, at least I am not only doing routines everyday! Yes, I had a tired morning but I do enjoy those actions! (exclude those nuisance calls and annoying relatives!)

Left- Big bruise that I got from knocking onto a chair while I was busy!

Eventful/ Occupied shift!

I went supper with my colleagues as I had a busy pm shift and didnt even have my dinner! We didnt have time to drink/eat or even to the toilet! We were thirsty and hungry towards the evening, fortunately one of my colleague was kind enough to get us plain water from the pantry! My legs were tired from walking! Yeah, at the moment of time, I really hope that I can have a roller skate so that I can skate to get things from one place to another!

When I came to work, the morning staff were already busy because a patient was sent for scan, staff was deployed, relatives crowding around either blocking the way or asking questions and lots of things to do and follow up! While we were busy trying to finish our work, one patient threw VT. Before the E-trolley reaches the room, patient already turned unconscious and pulseless. Fortunately Dr C was in the room and instantly gave patient a few chest thumps and patient woke up! We were teasing Dr C that he is our hero and I promised him I will praise him in my blog and so I am doing it now hehe... Eventually after several shocks throughout the shift, one of the Dr inserted pacing wire for the patient. However the pacer was not capturing well, patient still having VT on and off and we have to shock him times and again. Dr C then adjusted the pacing wire but it was all coiled up thus he did a rail road from the CVP line. It was pacing very well after that, subesquently patient had no more VT.

Thank you Dr C, you did a very good job, you are our hero!

Admitted about 4 patients to ICU during my shift, really very occupied. One of the patient was very sweet, she saw and knew that we were busy and mentioned that she wanted to order pizza for us. We rejected her but then really appreciate her thoughts. However at about 9pm, the pizza delivery man came with 2 large pizza! We were very touched and glad that at least there is someone who appreciate and concern about the nurses!

Hmmm last of all, besides Dr C, the sweet and thoughtful patient, I must not forget to thank my colleagues who worked very hard with me today! Thanks...

Greedy Phie phie...

I was the in charge today. Thought that somehow I will get some scolding from someone in my workplace who is always having Monday blues. Surprisingly no scolding however I still behaved myself till the end of the shift. One of my colleague was deployed to other station to cover one of the staff who took MC hence we were coping with 3 staff again! Fortunately my luck was not too bad, maintained 2 patients for the whole morning shift!

Went to mend the stupid tyre of my car, there was actually a tear on it! Spent $15 for it but then the mechanic said it wont last. Whatever, drive first, change it some other day!

Cooked a lot for dinner tonight, phie phie ate a lot too! I took phie phie's greedy face before dinner! SO CUTE!

Top- (Phie phie looking at roast duck meat!)

Right- (mummy mummy, phie phie wants prawns!)

Sunday...

One of my colleague was on MC so we were coping with 3 staff however we were not busy as we have only 1 patient! We can only have this total once in a while during the weekend...
While I was driving home after work, I felt something strange but just cant tell what is it. I usually pump the 92 fuel because it is cheaper, but last week I decided to get the 98 fuel to try it out. My father said it's better because it seems to be "smoother" and faster in picking up. While I was in the car just now I totally disagree with what he said, I thought I must have got the worst petrol because my car was dragging along the road! Finally I reached home in 15mins time and HAHA I know what was the problem! I realised, one of my back tyre was punctured and it was burning hot! I get my father to help me to change the tyre and we get it done in 20mins... but have to mend it tomorrow otherwise my car looked really awful with that sparetyre. So the conclusion is, it's not the petrol after all!

Saturday...

Mummy fixed her colleague's handphone this morning! Mummy did it rather effortlessly hahaha the colleague was really grateful hence treated her breakfast!
Mummy was very tired after work, she came home to nap! After that she watched a HK award presentation. Phie phie knows, mummy likes Aaron Kwok so she was watching it the whole night waiting to see him! (Mummy: Phie phie so smart!) This time the best actor is not Aaron Kwok, it's Tony Leung Ka Fai! Phie phie says he is also not bad hehehe.... (Mummy: u know who is he meh???)

Mummy saw auntie elaine online, they were talking about their boring life...

Mummy: Eh, nothing to blog leh...
Auntie Elaine: Write about anything lah!
Mummy: But today I do nothing much, only work, eat, sleep, shit, watch TV....
Auntie Elaine: Can write all that down mah!
Mummy: HUH, who interested in reading it!
Auntie Elaine: Life is that boring one what, everyday work, home, work, home, eat, sleep, shit...
Mummy: Yeah I agree... but tell people today I worked, ate, watch TV... how boring! See how lah
Auntie Elaine: It's your blog u can write about anything!
Mummy: Ok... anyway, life is really that boring at times!

Crab Feast!

Phie phie was at home alone because mummy went out for dinner with her colleagues. They went Uncle Leong's coffee shop which is located at AMK blk 232. Uncle Leong's coffee shop sells crabs and some other dishes but their signature dishes are mainly the big crabs. Mummy go there often because she said the price is reasonable. They ordered 3 big crabs (2 cooked with butter and 1 with bee hoon soup), 10 fried buns, fried beancurd, "kang kong" and sweet and sour chicken. Mummy dont know how much was the total price because her colleague insisted to pay for the dinner. They enjoyed their dinner very much though it was very crowded and a little humid at the coffee shop.

Mummy didnt bring phie phie out for dinner but when she came home, she gave me biscults and orange juice hehehe YEAH! I love mummy!

Phie phie went out today...

Phie phie went out with mummy today and it was raining heavily! Phie phie was hiding in her bag so was not wet haha! I played with sai sai gor in the car and we took pictures together! I think I am cuter than sai sai gor! (mummy: look, phie phie got tummy!)
Mummy went Sakae sushi with Auntie Elaine. They were greedy again, ordered a lot a lot of sushi and udon and dessert! There were other funny stories that mummy said cannot tell otherwise Auntie Elaine will poke me! Anyway, they went Mcdonalds to work on their research project after dinner. Phie phie was happy today because mummy brought me out to play! YEAH!

Tickle test!

The Karma Test:

How Much Do You Have?

http://web.tickle.com/tests/karma/?test=karmaogt

Phie phie found "Tickle Test!"

Try this, try this! http://web.tickle.com/tests/ There are many tests in here! Phie phie found it and mummy had done a few! These are her test results.

Mummy's test result on "The Ultimate Personality Test"
Your personality is actually determined by two personality sub-types - your primary, or dominant sub-type, and your secondary sub-type. You are a Movie Star which means you are a Golden / Success. Your primary sub-type is defined by "Golden" characteristics and your secondary sub-type is defined by "Success" characteristics. That means you're a bright ray of sunshine who secretly wonders why you're not famous yet. Chances are you don't get annoyed with people very easily, and you can handle stressful situations with grace. As if all that weren't enough, you're friendly, charming, and great with people.
How do we know all this? How do we know that you like making your work environment cozy and hospitable? Or that you spend a lot of time on your appearance? How could we have divined that you never shy away from asserting your ideas and opinions, and encourage others to do the same?Because while you were taking the test, you answered four different types of questions — questions that measured confidence, apprehension, willingness to take risks, and your focus on experience versus appearance — the primary traits that determine your personality. Based on your responses, we determined your personality type, Movie Star!

Mummy's test result on "The brain test"- You are Balanced-brained
That means you are able to draw on the strengths of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain, depending upon a given situation. When you need to explain a complicated process to someone, or plan a detailed vacation, the left hemisphere of your brain, which is responsible for your ability to solve problems logically, might kick in. But if you were critiquing an art opening or coming up with an original way to file papers, the right side of your brain, which is responsible for noticing subtle details in things, might take over. While many people have clearly dominant left- or right-brained tendencies, you are able to draw on skills from both hemispheres of your brain. This rare combination makes you a very creative and flexible thinker. The down side to being balanced-brained is that you may sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision when the two hemispheres of your brain are competing to solve a problem in their own unique ways.

Dinner from Ann...

Phie phie: Mummy mummy I want to blog!

Mummy: Ok lah, you type today!

Phie phie: YEAH! Mummy told phie phie yesterday auntie Ann bought them dinner. Auntie Elaine and auntie Wati ordered many food from 933 golden pillow! (mee siam, mutton with bun, vegetables, emporer chicken, vermicilli salad, fried chicken wings and sweet and sour clams!) Auntie Ann is generous said they can order as much as they want! They were joking with auntie Ann mentioning that they will order everything on the menu which cost a total of $270! Auntie auntie, you all so greedy! More greedy than Phie phie! As usual, they cant finish the food, so they left a lot of it for the night duty staff! Don't know what's wrong with Auntie Wati, maybe she felt guilty after eating so much, she kept repeating "zap zap tummy, zap zap thigh...zap zap zap..." After that she asked mummy to cut oranges for her to eat!
They took a lot of pictures and had a good laugh in the icu! Mummy showed phie phie those pictures and phie phie laughed till rolled on the bed! Mummy
can I upload the pictures? Very funny, got kissing one....

Mummy: Cannot lah, not for the "public" to see! Later auntie Elaine poke you!

Phie phie: I don't want, I don't like auntie Elaine poke me! She always poke my head as though I am stupid! I am very smart ah!!!!!!

Mummy: Ok lor then you don't be naughty, don't upload ok!

Phie phie: Ok I listen to mummy! I upload the decent ones... Mummy mummy, phie phie also want to zap zap tummy like auntie Wati! I also want to zap zap ears then I get strong ears to type faster!

Mummy:....... (that's my phie phie!)

Phie phie: NAE NAE NAE

more pictures...

My friends....

My colleagues.....

Today the topic at the workplace was on MOS. Other colleagues who were not there was asking about the place and the crowd and we were also browsing at the pictures that we took yesterday. One of my colleague Phyu Phyu shared with us her "terrible" experience last night at MOS. One drank lady fell while dancing beside her, Phyu Phyu was trying to be helpful so she assisted her to stand up. Instead of grabbing people's arm, she grabbed her sweaty ARMPIT!The worst part was Phyu Phyu smelled her own fingers after that! HOW GROSS! I took a picture of her just now while she was telling me, she seems to be very excited about it rather than feeling gross! (YEAH, that's her on top, describing how her fingers got under people's armpit!) Silly Phyu Phyu!
