Eventful/ Occupied shift!

I went supper with my colleagues as I had a busy pm shift and didnt even have my dinner! We didnt have time to drink/eat or even to the toilet! We were thirsty and hungry towards the evening, fortunately one of my colleague was kind enough to get us plain water from the pantry! My legs were tired from walking! Yeah, at the moment of time, I really hope that I can have a roller skate so that I can skate to get things from one place to another!

When I came to work, the morning staff were already busy because a patient was sent for scan, staff was deployed, relatives crowding around either blocking the way or asking questions and lots of things to do and follow up! While we were busy trying to finish our work, one patient threw VT. Before the E-trolley reaches the room, patient already turned unconscious and pulseless. Fortunately Dr C was in the room and instantly gave patient a few chest thumps and patient woke up! We were teasing Dr C that he is our hero and I promised him I will praise him in my blog and so I am doing it now hehe... Eventually after several shocks throughout the shift, one of the Dr inserted pacing wire for the patient. However the pacer was not capturing well, patient still having VT on and off and we have to shock him times and again. Dr C then adjusted the pacing wire but it was all coiled up thus he did a rail road from the CVP line. It was pacing very well after that, subesquently patient had no more VT.

Thank you Dr C, you did a very good job, you are our hero!

Admitted about 4 patients to ICU during my shift, really very occupied. One of the patient was very sweet, she saw and knew that we were busy and mentioned that she wanted to order pizza for us. We rejected her but then really appreciate her thoughts. However at about 9pm, the pizza delivery man came with 2 large pizza! We were very touched and glad that at least there is someone who appreciate and concern about the nurses!

Hmmm last of all, besides Dr C, the sweet and thoughtful patient, I must not forget to thank my colleagues who worked very hard with me today! Thanks...
