Busy evening

Remember my last night I mentioned about daughter of room 18, she was yelling and shouting at her brother over some issues. This morning, room 18 passed away and she became hysterical again! When I came to work around 1240hrs I saw the family members rushing into the room grieving over the death of the patient. Out of a sudden, the daughter dashed out of the room yelled at all of us and wanted to find out who did the suction for the mother. She insisted that if the suction was done earlier the mother would not have died! She was so out of control, shouting at everyone at the counter and even told my nurse manager to resign if she dont know how manage us properly! The doctors tried to explain to her that was not the cause of death in fact the cause is to be determine by the coroners. She just couldnt understand and said that she is not the doctor she wont know anything but she knew the death was caused by "choking of the phlegm"! My senior nurse manager came to handle the problem, however she just refused to stop her nonsense and accused us of "laughing at her". My senior nurse manager brought her out to the lounge together with the doctors and a few of my colleagues so that she wont disturb the other patients. I didnt know what happened in the lounge but she didnt create any scene after that. This crazy woman definately upset many of us including my managers... a few of my colleagues cried over her words of accused... Well, its ok folks, we have each other for support!!!!!!!

(Above: In the preparation room, discussing about the issue and getting over it....)
After the morning staff left, I thought everything was settled. We left with only 3 well patients ready to be send out but no bed. We settled the routines at 1630hrs, and was sitting and chatting at the counter. Then... the action started....
1) Room 16: One patient from another ward went for 2DE and found pericardial effusion so came in for pericardiocentasis. Took about an hour for the whole procedure, starting from 1700hrs to 1820hrs!
2) While almost done with room 16, I received a call from A&E, was about one APO intubated patient needed an ICU bed. The patient was sent in at 1910hrs to room 19.
3) After room 19, I received another call from other station informing me that their patient collapsed in the laboratory :( they were intubating the patient and will send the patient to the ICU after angiogram, that was around 2005hrs and the patient was given room 18. Before the patient arrived, we took short dinner breaks. I finished my cup noodles in 8mins.
4) At 2045hrs, room 18 was ready to be fetch back, by the time he came was already 2110hrs. We quickly helped to settle the patient before we went home.
Meanwhile we received another call saying that one patient threw VT in the laboratory!!!! Followed by one acute patient going for PTCA from A&E!!!!!!! Before I went home, I saw the night staff sending IABP machine to the laboratory for the acute patient!
Can anyone tell me what is going to happen tomorrow morning?????!?!?!!?!?

More photos of the HK trip

The Disneyland!

The PEAK... someone told me to take more pictures from the Peak, great view of HK island uh...

The Big Buddha at Lantau Island.

The Ocean Park. Hey colleagues of mine, do you guys think the fish resembles our dear "KALIPOK"?! WHAHHAAAHAHAahahahahahaha

First day, we visited Temple street and on the plane way to HK!

Sunday...

I reached my workplace at 659am while Jasmine was late because of the jam that caused by the marathon. We were quite relax the whole morning as there were only 2 patients, took in one patient from other station but he was able to avoid intubation after some medications given.
Some staff were sent in for assessment for competency on telemetry, these staff should know that they will be tested and questioned according to the checklist. Instead of came in for assessment, they came in to LEARN and asked questions! One of the staff even argued that she should only be assess on how to enter patients data into the computer and was very defensive and argumentative throughout. She refused to answer questions that was being asked hence we thought we shall leave her to the manager to assess her and see if she is competent! Sigh.... This is not the way to behave in a workplace...
Finally came the afternoon staff....... Nathan and I finished the packet of seaweed bought by our nurse manager, Walla was upset because she didnt get to eat hahahaha.... I spent the last hour at work with Walla watching MTVs... after hearing those nice R&B songs, I really miss clubbing hehehehehehe

Sooooo bloated!

Went for ward meeting this afternoon, it was all about things that happened recently and told us to minimise discrepancy, complaints from patients and so on.
Thereafter, went for a drink at Polar with Nathan, we dragged till 6pm and drove off to meet Sitilok and Alvin for dinner at Merchant Court. Sitilok wanted to try out the durian dessert there but the place is always fully booked! I called on Tuesday and the same thing happened, we were quite disappointed so I thought that the dinner was called off. However received a sms from Sitilok this morning asking me where to eat tonight so I was like "UHHH" ... OKIE...

Meanwhile I thought I am always quite lucky so I tried to call Merchant Court again and guess what???? Yeah got a table at 830pm, well better than nothing! THEN..... 1hour later, received a call from Merchant Court told me that there will be a table available at 630pm!!!!! GREAT!
However its pity that I wasnt very hungry so I didnt get to try out everything. Well, everyone go there for the durian so....... I ate! As I said earlier I dislike durians but I will only try durian from Merchant Court because its still bearable! Uhmmm only had a small bowl of it, quite good... Sitilok found it too sweet, then certain dishes he said too salty! So conscious! He stained his white T shirt while ENJOYING his food, fortunately we just passed him a T shirt that we bought from HK so he went to change immediately hahaha Nathan this time round you are not the one being messy!

After dinner, we went for a walk along the river, everyone was feeling full and bloated! Around 9plus, we left to drinkerz, Sitilok said he will go home shower then will join us later. I bet he would not appear and true enough, he didnt turn up! EH SITILOK U LOUSY LEH!
Oh yeah, about who will be paying for the next meal, we shall wait for Eugene to be back then we will know who win the bet! You know I wont admit I have lost until I find out the truth! ;)

It was very crowded tonight at drinkerz. Saw many regulars and many new faces, think Kevin was drunk, the rest~ Alvin, Derrek, James and Jay drank a lot! Nathan and I only ordered 1 jug, actually not really in the mood to drink tonight, so FULL AND BLOATED but I did enjoy at DRINKERZ!

Last night!

My legs are so tired and my eyes are closing but I have to blog before I forgotten about it.
I reached quite early last night, prepared everything and thought that we can relax after the routines, however we were on our feet the whole night from 10pm onwards.
Started with room 18 daughter, she was so drama yelling and shouting and quarrelling with the other relative of hers. When one of my colleague told her to lower her voice, my colleague got scoldings from her! We let her be until I really cant stand her so I asked her to leave saying that I wanted to clean the patient up. She left and came in only occasionally only. PHEW!
Meanwhile room 17 (Renu's patient) bleed non stop, the whole room stinks! OGD was done for her and found clots in duodernum but was not able to continue because patient turned bad. Before that I told Renu that this patient dont look good, will turn bad, she scolded me because everytime things that I predict will always happen and true enough... Patient turned pale, turned drowsy, and started to have frequent PVCs. In the end we intubated the patient then her problems never end... We had difficulty in setting IA line and plugs, many bruising, patient continued to bleed, given her tons of blood continuously....
The most irritating time of the night started~ we were so busy throughout and that irritating permanent night fellow just cant stop her nonsense! She talked endlessly, nothing but all CRAPS! I was so busy in the room and yet she came in and kept blocking my way, that was not all, she was blocking in the room talking to the doctors about SATAY!!!!! Mutton lah, pork lah.... so unprofessional and I really feel like asking her to shut up! I tried to keep my cool but in the end I turned and shouted at her to EXCUSE US! She stared at me in shock then I threw the laryngeal blade on the basin and walked out to get the sponging trolley to clean up this patient. I returned and the doctors told me to relax but I told them I have to let her know that I cant stand her nonsense and she has to STOP TALKING and GET OUT! I heard her telling my colleagues "WAH, now SSN scolding me!".... "Eh Priscilla throwing temper!" Yeah so she knows I am so fed up with her and she should have keep her mouth SHUT, but she never and can never do that because talking is her "hobby" and it must be talking nonsense, cracking not funny jokes, and I supposed her favourite is to irritate others to brighten up her life!!!!! I heard 2 other staff at the other station also told her off last night, can u imagine how annoying she is??!! Towards morning when we were settled then she sent in staff to help, I sent off the staff because at the moment of time we dont need help and this staff has her own station to take care of as well. The irritating fellow was unhappy about it and we started to argue again! Thereafter when she started to irritate me I went to have some food, or went into the room, just to avoid her to prevent myself from bashing her up! She is getting on my nerves!
We were so hungry after working hard throughtout the night, we ordered McDonalds, I ate a double cheese burger and before that a cup noodles. Burnt a lot of calories the whole night but ate a lot too!
One after another, after we settled room 17, received an APO patient from A&E! Same old story, extremely breathless and was given many lasix but never insert urine catheter! Initially wanted to try on BIPAP but to save the hassles its still better to intubate the patient. After patient was intubated, the MO inserted IA line (also attempted many times), then followed by CVP... When I looked at the time, it was already 4am!!! I was working non stop for almost 6 hours!!!!!! SOoooooooo TIRED, SOOOOOooooooo sleepy............
Finally the morning staff came in one after another.... was so glad to see them! I think I cant blog further, my eyes are closing, my mind is in the dreamland...
Oh yeah last thing, yesterday I took a picture wanted to show Nathan ~ Hey Nathan, I saw Xiao Qiang fighting with an insect leh, I took a picture of them, u like it??????!?!??!?!

Second night...

I had dinner with my dad before I went to work, we went to the coffee shop opposite my block to try out the frog leg porridge and hot and spicy stir fried crocodile meat. The frog leg was good but I dont like the crocodile meat. I tried it many years ago somewhere near Orchard road and I dont like it as well. It is not about how they cook it, I just find the meat ~ stale... Nah.... that's it! No trying of it for the third time!
Around 715pm, I accompanied a friend for his dinner. After finished his big plate of chicken chop, he told me he craved for fried chicken wings. He ordered 2 wings and we waited for it for ten minutes, well, worth the waiting, it was quite good ~ succulent and oily! Yummy!
Just came home from breakfast, I had a plate of fried bee hoon with vegetables and egg~ SO FULL... I have been eating and eating and eating and ..... EATING...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gosh, please dont put on weight!
YAWN.......... time to go to bed! ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

First night...

I reached workplace at 2045hrs and Walla was counting the items in the E-trolley. I thought she was just doing a routine check on it but realised later that she was topping up the items. The afternoon staff resuscitated a 33 years old female patient but she died eventually. Everyone felt sad for the patient's husband and son, wants to know more about the patient please refer to Nathan's blog as I only saw the corpse when I came. After the body was cleared, we left with 4 patients throughout the night. A peaceful night with only a little nonsense from that permanent night fellow! Colleagues of mine will know who am I referring to.
Before Nathan went home, I told her about a little problem of mine. Halfway through the conversation somehow I just couldnt control my tears....... Nathan got emotional as well... She offered me tissues and both of us was like wiping our tears and at the same time laughing at ourselves... Anyway, Nathan, thanks for listening to me, thanks for your support and thanks for crying with me!
But... Nathan, sorry, I dropped those beads that was hanging with my hp now I only left with the chain and all the beads were gone, my name was gone!!!!!!! SOB SOB, I am so depressed now! I hope it dropped in my car........

Nathan asked me a question in her blog "Bala, do you want to die first or u want me to die first?"
Uhmm I will let u die first, not that I am cruel or evil but like everyone said the one who is suffering the grief is the one alive, so I am willing to bear with the sufferings. Nathan, u will have to go before me...

Back in Singapore...

Well... has been working these two days and will be starting night shift tonight till Wednesday morning. I have been going out for the past few days, I dine out every night, been to East Coast for drinks, went singing, went drinkerz...
We went drinkerz last night, Sitilok came as well. The moment he reached he asked us to join him outside drinkerz for DURIANS. I hate durians! Sitilok and Nathan was enjoying it very much, I was sitting with them bearing with the smell of it while eating my longans! Terrible experience!
Drinkerz was crowded last night because there was pool tournament. James (the pet mover) won the game, he won cash $688, a cue and a bottle of.. dont remember its Martell or Chivas, oh and a small trophy.
I just went dim sum with Sitilok at Redstar restaurant, it is just so nice. Better than the one that we had in HK. SIGH... tired, got to go nap for a while and get ready for my first night!

My 5 days in HONG KONG!

DAY 1
Places that we went:

Airport to Standford Hillview Hotel~ It was already 3pm when we reached the hotel. We shopped around at Granville and Kimberly Street that are near our hotel, then strolled along Nathan road (WOW Nathan got her own road in HK!).
Beijing restaurant~ We met my God parents in one of the well known Beijing restaurant located at Jordan road. I visit this restaurant everytime I go HK, the food was really up to standard! It cost HK630 for 2 cold dishes, beijing duck, fried man tou, fried mutton and..... I cant remember hahahahha I only know we ate a lot....
Temple Street/ Ladies Market~ These are the two standard places that we NEED to go to get cheap stuff! Uhmmm we bought and spent a lot the whole day! I bought a big towel for phie phie hehehe....

DAY 2
Places that we went:

Bo lin zi (Big Buddha)~ It is located at Dai Yu San, it took us around one and a half hour to reach there from our hotel. We had our vegetarian lunch there that cost HK60 per person.
Shopped at a mall beside Tung Chong MTR~ We bought a lot of T-shirts from this mall because its mostly the factory outlet of some well known brands hence it was rather cheap!

Disneyland~ It cost HK350 almost $70, however the fireworks was really great! We spent a lot of money in the Disneyland... it is quite a fun place but the weather was terrible, it was so hot and humid!

In a train to the Disneyland!

Mong Kok~ We went back to have dinner, I had a bowl of beef noodles and they had wanton mee! Sitilok, its your favourite! Hehe...

Oh then we went over to ladies market and bought quite a lot of things, we were so tired that we took a taxi back to the hotel! I really like the roadside stall and I ate so much of it! YUMMY!

DAY 3
Places that we went:

Avenue of stars~ Its along Tsim Sha Tsui where there are names of famous HK artists along the pathway. The weather was so hot again, 32 degrees!
Victoria Peak~ We shopped around the malls and then went in to Madame Tussauds! I took a lot of pictures in there!!!
These are my FAVOURITE ones with Aaron Kwok! Yeah I almost go CRAZY!

We went up to the mall to have a good view of HK from the peak. My God father mentioned that there may be fire works at 8pm, so we started waiting for it at 730pm till 830pm but we didnt see any... anyway its ok, I have seen twice for the past week with Nathan!

Lan Kwai Fong~ We took a taxi from the peak to Lan Kwai Fong (because the queue of the tram was super long!) after we took our dinner at BK.

I bought some food from the roadside stall and ate along the way while walking back to the hotel, wow, I really like it very much and I am still thinking of it now! YUMMY! Lastly, not forgetting to take a picture of the things that we bought!

DAY 4
Places that we went:

"Cha chan tang"~ We bought some egg tarts from a cake shop in Tsim Sha Tsui and went in to one of the cafe for our breakfast. My meatball bee hoon soup was so delicious!

Admiralty~ We walked around in the Pacific Plaza then proceed to Ocean Park.

Ocean Park~ It was very crowded, I didnt know that the children in HK were having their school holidays. The weather was 32degrees AGAIN, yes, everyday was 32degrees!

Sei Kung~ It is a great place for seafood and my God-parents will bring me there whenever I visit HK because I LOVE SEAFOOD! We had roast goose, garlic steamed big scallops, flower clams in spicy XO sauce, geoduck, steamed prawns, salt/pepper big prawns, "turbo" fish, vegetables and noodles soup (HK1808)! IT WAS REALLY GREAT!

My God parents ;)
Moon Kei~ God father brought us to this place for desserts. I have to rate it 9/10!!!!! (it didnt score full marks because the place is too small, crowded and noisy!)
Ladies Market~ We went back for a stroll because we were so FULL but we spent money again hehe

The things that we bought, its getting lesser because we were BROKE! Followed by, a picture of myself after doing mask hehehe....

DAY 5
Places that we went:

Dim Sum at Teck Heng~ Located at Tsim Tong which cost us only HK161.

My favourite roadside stall~ Ate so much of it for the past 5 days in HK!
We do some last minute shopping and went back to the hotel for shower before we left to airport! The weather was extremely hot throughout the 5 days, but I really enjoyed the trip very much! Thanks to Nathan and Ivy for their company!

Hotels in Disneyland.

On board, back to Singapore... :(
(Before I went, my luggage was only 4kg and when I came home it was 14.6kg!)
