Busy evening
Remember my last night I mentioned about daughter of room 18, she was yelling and shouting at her brother over some issues. This morning, room 18 passed away and she became hysterical again! When I came to work around 1240hrs I saw the family members rushing into the room grieving over the death of the patient. Out of a sudden, the daughter dashed out of the room yelled at all of us and wanted to find out who did the suction for the mother. She insisted that if the suction was done earlier the mother would not have died! She was so out of control, shouting at everyone at the counter and even told my nurse manager to resign if she dont know how manage us properly! The doctors tried to explain to her that was not the cause of death in fact the cause is to be determine by the coroners. She just couldnt understand and said that she is not the doctor she wont know anything but she knew the death was caused by "choking of the phlegm"! My senior nurse manager came to handle the problem, however she just refused to stop her nonsense and accused us of "laughing at her". My senior nurse manager brought her out to the lounge together with the doctors and a few of my colleagues so that she wont disturb the other patients. I didnt know what happened in the lounge but she didnt create any scene after that. This crazy woman definately upset many of us including my managers... a few of my colleagues cried over her words of accused... Well, its ok folks, we have each other for support!!!!!!!
(Above: In the preparation room, discussing about the issue and getting over it....)
After the morning staff left, I thought everything was settled. We left with only 3 well patients ready to be send out but no bed. We settled the routines at 1630hrs, and was sitting and chatting at the counter. Then... the action started....
1) Room 16: One patient from another ward went for 2DE and found pericardial effusion so came in for pericardiocentasis. Took about an hour for the whole procedure, starting from 1700hrs to 1820hrs!
2) While almost done with room 16, I received a call from A&E, was about one APO intubated patient needed an ICU bed. The patient was sent in at 1910hrs to room 19.
3) After room 19, I received another call from other station informing me that their patient collapsed in the laboratory :( they were intubating the patient and will send the patient to the ICU after angiogram, that was around 2005hrs and the patient was given room 18. Before the patient arrived, we took short dinner breaks. I finished my cup noodles in 8mins.
4) At 2045hrs, room 18 was ready to be fetch back, by the time he came was already 2110hrs. We quickly helped to settle the patient before we went home.
Meanwhile we received another call saying that one patient threw VT in the laboratory!!!! Followed by one acute patient going for PTCA from A&E!!!!!!! Before I went home, I saw the night staff sending IABP machine to the laboratory for the acute patient!
Can anyone tell me what is going to happen tomorrow morning?????!?!?!!?!?
