Busy
Let me recall what happened this afternoon.......
Oh.... it started to rain while I drove to work hence I was almost late due to the slow traffic. I took 1 intubated patient, 1 old lady and 1 empty bed. The action started with 1 patient (from other station) went down for acute PTCA. An hour later, I was told that IABP was inserted for the patient, so I assigned the patient to myself and I went down to fetch. When I came up, all the patients turned "ku ku" ("ku ku" is the most approprate word to use!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
About the "ku ku" patients:
1) My intubated patient started his nonsense again. Morning ~ he dug his "shit" under his diapers and messed up the whole bed. Afternoon ~ he "played" with his urine catheter and wet the whole floor with his urine! He pulled his plug, pulled his pants, pulled the diapers etc etc...
2) My old lady "stucked" her finger on the call bell. She cannot stop calling and she expected immediate response. We off the call bell by using the intercom until the intercom went faulty. ERRRRRRRR so frustrated!
3) My IABP patient just cannot remember that he cannot bend his right leg. He was rather restless and did all sorts of "stunts" on the bed! Spent almost half and hour searching for his foot pulses but cant feel, cant hear.... Sigh....
4) One patient was waiting to be extubated. He waited for many hours and hence became impatient. He was also another one whose finger got "stuck" to the call bell! CALL AND CALL AND CALL..... AND CALL.....................
5) One confused patient was talking to herself, to the pumps, to the wall, to the ceiling, to the air, to the spirits, to everything in the room the whole afternoon. She just not tired of talking and its kind of frustrating hearing her voice whole evening when we were busy.
Fortunately we were able to go for our breaks. At 8plus while we were doing our routines, we saw staff from one of the station ran in for suxa. I asked her "Got patient collapsed ah???????"..... Sigh... of course lah if not take suxa for what???
ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I completed my reports so that I could help later when the patient comes in. Before I could finish everything, the patient was pushed in. We bagged the patient as the ventilator was not tested ARRRRGHHHHH I quickly do the test but it failed..... AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! *FRUSTRATED* (Everything goes wrong when we are busy!)
Kavi tested another one while I helped to settle the patient. Shafted in the ryles tube, aspirated the air, suction, changed patient, change tape, set plug, set IA line, ECG........ Just nice, we done everything just before 9pm............... TIRED....... SLEEPY.............................
